The film ‘The Railway Men’ is based on the lethal methyl isocyanate gas leak from an American multinational Union Carbide Corporation factory in Bhopal late on the night of December 2, 1984. Thousands of people were killed in this catastrophe, and thousands more are still affected.
The story of the web series ‘The Railway Men’ is about the bravery of those railway workers who risked their lives to save those stranded at Bhopal railway station during the gas tragedy. In this series, R Madhavan played the General Manager of Central Railway, KK Menon played the Station Master of Bhopal, and Babil Khan played a loco pilot who is involved in an accident on his first day on the job. ‘This web series is a tribute to the unsung heroes of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy,’ says Babil Khan.
Babil Khan’s flicks ‘Kala’ and ‘Friday Night Plan’ were exclusively available on Netflix before the web series ‘The Railway Men’.
